ABOUT THE PLANT
Philodendron Burle Max is a popular hybrid cultivar of the Philodendron genus. It is known for its large, glossy, heart-shaped leaves and its vining growth habit. The plant is named after the renowned Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, who had a passion for tropical plants.
Appearance: The leaves of Philodendron Burle Max are typically dark green and have a glossy texture. They can grow quite large, reaching lengths of 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 centimeters). The shape of the leaves is heart-like with a pointed tip.
Growth habit: This Philodendron variety is a vining plant, meaning it naturally climbs and trails. It can be trained to grow on a support or allowed to cascade down from hanging baskets. If provided with appropriate support, it can climb up poles or trellises.
Light requirements: Philodendron Burle Max thrives in bright, indirect light. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. However, it can tolerate lower light conditions, although it may lead to slower growth and smaller leaves.
Temperature and humidity: This plant prefers warm temperatures ranging between 65°F and 85°F (18°C to 29°C). It appreciates higher humidity levels, but it can adapt to average household humidity. Placing the plant near a humidifier or using a pebble tray filled with water can help increase humidity levels.
