Tecomella Undulata (Desert Teak) is a highly valued outdoor flowering plant.

  • Desert Teak Aka Roheda is a deciduous evergreen tree that was born from desert. Distinct by its narrow, lance-shaped leaves with some wavy margins. It has characteristics to bear tubular blossoms during spring in various colors, yellow, red or Orange. They also bear long thin fruits in a curved capsule form. Their attractive appearance, drought tolerant and easy care makes these, Tecomella Undulata perfect for outdoor ornamental gardening. 

Tecomella Undulata is easy to care and drought tolerant.

  • This flowering plant thrives when kept in presence of full sunlight. They often require low water and are drought tolerant. The soil on which they are supposed to be planted must be Sandy, rich with calcium and well-drained. Temperature for these soils must be above 27 degree Celsius. And dryness of around 3 or 4 months is necessary. And in terms of feeding, use organic fertilizers especially during spring season.

Desert Teak is effective in preserving the natural ecology.

  • Tecomella Undulata (Desert Teak) play an important role in preserving ecology. Like they act as a soil-binding source when its lateral roots spread out forming a network on the top surface of the soil. And they also perform a part as a windbreak, by stabilizing sand dunes.

Useful source in cattle farms.

  • Native originated from North-West India or Southern Pakistan, they are extremely of high values in cattle habitation purposes. There flowers or leaves could be fed for camels or other cattle.  This tree is a good source for timber too.
Known for their medicinal values.
  • Bark obtained from the stems of these Tecomella Undulata (Desert Teak) could be useful as a remedy for syphilis. It is also used in curing leucorrhoea, piles, hepatitis, gonorrhea and liver diseases. Their seeds could be used against abscess.
