• Ladies' fingers (Scientifically known as Abelmoschus Esculentus) are also widely known as Okra. This seasonal vegetable belongs to the Mallow family. The vegetable that this plant bears is of oblong shaped, green coloured and tapering at the end with tiny seeds inside. Ladies' fingers are mainly valued for these edible green seed pods. These vegetable plants also bear a yellow flower with appearance of purple centre edible pods. Their yields are generally consumed fresh or dried or in a cooked form. Their leaves, flowers, calyces and even flower buds could be eaten, or used in various culinary purposes. They are highly nutritious, content with carbohydrates, dietary fibre, Vitamin C, K and magnesium.

Ladies finger plants are easy to care for.

• These plants must be placed where it could be nurtured with full sunlight. Water them enough to keep their soil moist, but not wet. The soil on which they are supposed to be planted must be well-drained and rich with organic content. To ensure their healthy growth ideally their temperature condition must be around 22 – 35 degree Celsius. And in terms of feeding, use organic fertilizers and apply them especially during the summer season.
