Marigold Plants are highly valued outdoor flowering plants.

  • Tagetes (Marigold plants) are bushy annuals, boasting huge double flowers, up to 5 – 10 cm in shades of orange, gold, yellow, and apricot to cream. These flowering plant blossoms emerge atop of the foliage of pinnate leaves divided into lanceolate leaves. And the period at which it starts to appear, is from early summer until frost. Marigold plants are easily cultivated adapting varying climatic or soil conditions and are easy to care too. That’s all conditions make them an excellent choice for beds, containers or as edging plants.

It’s an easy to care outdoor plant.

  • To ensure their healthy growth, keep them in front of bright sunlight for at least 6 hours daily, then place them to shade light. Water them enough to keep their soil moist, but not wet. The soil on which these plants are supposed to be planted must be well-drained, rich with organic contents. Ideal temperature for their healthy growth is 20 to 30 degree Celsius. In terms of feeding, use organic fertilizers, and feed them often especially during spring, summer and fall.

Uses of Marigold plants could be traced back from Ancient periods.

  • Marigold is one of the most popular flowers that are widely used by Indian or in Hindu traditions. Like in some social functions or in some religious poojas. Generally, these flowers are sold as garlands or as loose. Their usages could be found since ancient periods. In Ancient Arabic and Indian cultures these flowers were used as dye for foods, cosmetics and fabrics.

  • Parts of Tagetes (Marigold plants) are mildly toxic. And their ingestion may cause mild gastric upset or vomiting. Therefore, it’s not advisable to plant them near children and pets.
