Traditionally valuable with high ornamental features.

  • Cocos nucifera Aka Coconut tree or coconut palm, is a tall tropical tree, native originated to tropical islands from Thailand, Koh Samui. At mature state these trees may reach to the height around 30m. These appear as a branchless, single-trunked palm, whole often curved, and swollen from its base. Coconut trees are topped with a crown of pinnate, green fronds and are gently curved like downward-arching. They also bear yellow flowers that form in an elongated cluster that has a fragrance and usually bloom in tropical climates all-year round. Coconut palm trees are very useful for ornamental purposes too. They are ideal for getting tropical effect to the background. Making them relevant for using along walkways or installing them in patios. 

Important note.

  • Periodic pruning is not only for removing flowers or cultivating fruits, but to make sure that number coconuts are well balanced because their fall may cause someone’s injury or damage.

Fruits that Cocos nucifera bears are widely consumed.

  • Most importantly these trees are known for bearing Coconut, which are made of fibrous husk surrounded by a woody shell containing coconut milk, coconut meat and oil. These yields are used in numerous edible products. Like Coconut water could be directly consumed, and coconut milk is formed by grating coconut meat with water and squeezing it out. And Coconut meat could be eaten raw. And most famously coconut oil could be extracted from dried coconut meat when crushed. 

It also contains medicinal values too.

  • Coconuts that appear come in many herbal medicinal purposes too. These fruits are considered to have some antifungal, antiparasitic, antiviral and antibacterial properties. 
It’s an easy to care tree.
  • Cocos nucifera Aka Coconut tree thrives in the presence of full bright sunlight. Water them abundantly during summer but reduce gradually once temperature drops down like from October onward. Soils on which they are supposed to be planted must be well-drained, sandy-loam and alkaline. And the ideal temperature for these soils must be above 21 degree Celsius. In terms of feeding, use fertilizers that contain basic nutrients like traces of manganese, magnesium and boron. Apply them especially during the start of spring.
