- Chrysanthemum Indicum Aka Indian Chrysanthemum is a beautiful perennial herb flowering plant. Belonging to the Sunflower family, Asteraceae; these plants could grow in a range of 25-80 cm in height. Characterized by their flower-heads emerges in a flat-topped cyme form at its branch-ends. These flower-heads contain Phyllaries in a row of 5, mostly in yellow colour with brown or white margins. Therefore, Indian Chrysanthemum could be an excellent choice as an indoor flowering plant.
Rich in medicinal values.
- In medieval Chinese tradition, these flowering plants were used to treat eye ailments, gonorrhoea and even for migraine. Their flowers are used in treatment of deep-rooted boils, furuncle, inflammation of the throat, scrofula, eczema, eyes and cervix, itchiness of the skin and hypertension. They have been known for their rejuvenating effect when used over a long period of time.
Indian Chrysanthemums are easy to care for.
- These flowering plants could survive in partial shade but must require 5 – 6 hours of full sunlight. Soil on which they are supposed to be planted must be well-drained, rich and fertile with organic contents. Water them enough to keep soil moist, not wet. Ideal temperature must be in a range of 20 - 27 degree Celsius. And in terms of feeding, use organic fertilizer to ensure their healthy growth.
