It grows well on the ocean side of the dunes. These plants in fact help dunes by getting sands in between their stems and leaves, during high tide. Sea purslane (Sesuvium Portulacastrum) are also known for their unique type of leaves and blossom. Leaves of these plants are thick, linear and fleshy supported by succulent stems of reddish-green colour. And their unique flower contains star-shaped pink flowers that emerge with their axils. These flowers have no petals, instead formed out of sepals which are pink-to-purple colour from inside and green from outside with pointed tips. These succulent plants bloom throughout the year and are perfect from coastal gardening.
